German groups, dog teams and musher’s running away and BBQ.

Today we had 11 persons for a three hour trip. It’s a German travel agency who send this people to us. Lot’s of the people wanted to drive the team bye them self so we just hade to harness all dogs except two. We also called to Volker and ask if he want to come and help us with his team. During this weeks we have to trainee from a school (Marie and Lotta) and they also follow us on this trip. Totally we were 49 dogs, 11 guests, 4 guides, 6 sledges and some kilo sausage/meat. That tour today went to a sami tent we have some kilometres away from our kennel. The dogs was really stressed during that start so we had to work hard to calm them down. Lots of our young huskies have never done a job with so many dogs as this tour before. Today we also had two teams (and musher’s) that try to run away from us. The guests make it really good. The runaway team was driven by Volker and Lotta/Marie. Usually this never happen! But all of us reach the sami tent and the fire for BBQ. Her you can see some pictures from today. /Matti

During Jokkmokk winter market it’s lot’s of people who visit Jokkmokk. Some of them want to follow us out to the nature with our dog teams. To make this possible it’s necessary to plan and prepare our camps in the forest. We need fire wood, Sámi tent etc. Today we cooperate with Sten and Lotta and our four (4) girls who have trainee from Grahns gymnasium. After some work it’s always necessary with tea/coffee and a fire. Here are some pictures from today.

Good start of 2009!

I started this year with a dog sledge tour. Together with me I had a very nice family (Heffernan) from Wales. We went from the kennel and over the hills to the Appoälven (Apporiver). During this trip I have seen one moose and some reindeers. The boy was passenger on my sledge and he have seen the reindeers. The moose was to fare away and moved quite quickly. We were also lucky with some capercaillie (or do you call them great grouse?). The Swedish name is “Tjäder”.

Our huskies are resting.

During our dog sledge tours we usually stops for a coffee break. Fire and some BBQ are of course necessary!!!

Today we made 30km totally during our 3 hour trip. That includes the stop for fire and food.

Jokke like BBQ!

The family will be back the 3/1 for a Northern light tour with our huskies. I just want to say: Welcome back!
